Virginia Crowder - Experienced Professional Scopist
I am an experienced professional scopist.
Many of you already know me. I have been transcribing for
over 25 years and scoping for over 15. I'm located in Riverside, CA, but
can work via email anywhere. My language skills
are solid, I read steno notes (and can read through most misstrokes) and I
know my way around computers.
I can work with
TurboCAT systems and with anyCAT
system
which correctly supports the RTF/CRE
file exchange standard (click
here to see the
RTF/CRE FAQ for details).
Rates:
My rates vary geographically and are based on the scope
and nature of the work you want me to do. I add small fees for special
circumstances, but ONLY if you are receiving extra fees for the job and/or
if I need to set someone else's work aside (with her or his permission) so
I can meet your unexpected deadline. (It's a mutual honor
system.)
Highest rate
scenario: I pick up your diskettes or
receive them by mail. I translate and edit them (constantly building
your dictionary, via temporary files for your review), and print and
deliver rough drafts for you to proofread and to edit untranslates.
You phone me with corrections. I make corrections and print out and
deliver or mail the final text, along with an ASCII diskette and a
condensed transcript.
Lowest rate
scenario:
You're a Realtime reporter. You set up your own caption pages,
certificates, bills and witness letters, and you provide word lists.
We exchange zipped files via email or high-speed modem (14,400 or
faster) in normal turnaround time.
Normal turnaround
time: Four weekdays, max.
Faster, with no extra charge, if I'm not on deadline for another
reporter.
Experience:
Over 25 years in the field. Extensive experience with 100+ court reporters
who've used very different steno systems. Their CSR numbers range
from 890 to 8876.
